National Academy for Social Prescribing Event: Supporting People with Long-Term Conditions
Monday the 29th of September at 12pm.
In the session, the Innovation Network for the National Academy for Social Prescribing invited Dr. Emma Meehan, to introduce the Somatic Practice & Chronic Pain Network. Emma explained how somatic practices, mindful movement techniques, can help people living with chronic pain by encouraging:
- Internal body awareness to gain insight and modulate attention
- Awareness of environments and their impact on pain
- Awareness of movement in space
- Agency and empowerment
The work of the Somatic Practice & Chronic Pain Network brings together researchers, clinicians, practitioners, and people with lived experience to reimagine approaches to chronic pain management. Over forty people attended.
