What are somatic practices?

A somatic movement session involves:

·      Noticing sensations

·      Focusing on lived or personal experience 

·      Learning about your own body

·      Recognising movement habits

·      Exploring new ways of moving

·      Becoming aware of the environment around you

·      Experiencing vitality and enjoyment

·      Working with challenges and discomfort

·      Expression through movement, writing, drawing and talking

Forms include:

Alexander Technique, the Feldenkrais Method, Laban Bartenieff Fundamentals, Body Mind Centering, Skinner Releasing Technique, amongst many others.
