Practice: Body awareness

This is a practice video developed in collaboration between Micia de Wet, Tamara Ashley and Rachel Cherry, exploring chronic pain through body awareness, movement and drawing/writing. They address the uniqueness of each person and how they manage their own chronic pain, including the associated emotions.

If you wish to take part, please bring paper, pencil, and colours of any kind, as well as finding a comfortable and safe place to take part. Bring your own curiosity and kindness to yourself if you can!

Guidelines

This is not a cure but an opportunity for exploration of your own body and movement. For some people, emotions come up as they explore movement, for others it is just a relaxing and enjoyable experience.

Please watch the video first to decide if you want to take part. You could check with your healthcare professional if any activities are best avoided for you. Consider your own capacity to move, if you have limited space etc. Decide if you think its ok to participate or wait until another time. As always, please follow COVID-19 guidelines as appropriate e.g. social distancing, ventilated spaces, etc.

We welcome feedback on your experience so please let us know what you think. If you have any other concerns following the practice, please get in touch with your healthcare professional, or contact us on the email below.

Thank you and we hope you enjoy the practice!
