In Memory of Glenna Batson

We were saddened to hear that somatic pioneer Glenna Batson passed away in August 2025.

She wrote the first blog post for the network and explored the idea of a ‘body blink’ (even smaller than a movement snack), back in 2020:

Somatics at the Nexus of the Pandemic and Pain

She later added another blog post guiding the reader into 20 minutes constructive rest:

Somatics at the Nexus of the Pandemic and Pain: Part II  – Constructive Rest

We have re-shared them here in her memory and hope you enjoy engaging with her ideas and practices.

SPCPN board member Aline Haas also had the privilege of working with Glenna on a special issue for Frontiers called ‘Dance, embodied agency and neuroplasticity in aging’. (https://www.frontiersin.org/journals/aging-neuroscience/articles/10.3389/fnagi.2024.1508074/full).

With thanks to Glenna for all her contributions to the somatic field, especially putting somatics, health and wellbeing on the map with her research, passion and energy.

We’d love to hear how you find it, please share any responses here: Somatic Practice and Chronic Pain Event Survey
